Quantum Masters Programs

Information for potential masters students with an interest in quantum science and technology:

Taught by faculty from Columbia Engineering and the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Columbia’s Quantum Master’s will educate students in both the fundamentals and the most advanced, cutting-edge developments in quantum science, including quantum computing and quantum information. The program will provide complementary hardware, experiments, and software skills that are critical for the quantum industry's future leaders.

Students can choose to focus on either Physics or Engineering.

The program is designed to meet the needs of an increasing population of gifted students who are intrigued by, and want to participate in, the growing scholarly interest in the relationship between the philosophy of science and the foundations of physics. The program draws upon the diverse strengths of Columbia University in Physics, the Foundations of Physics, the Philosophy of Physics, and the Philosophy of Science generally.

The M.A. includes coursework in the three main areas of the foundations of physics: Relativity; Quantum Mechanics; Thermodynamics
