Columbians, do you have what it takes to crack real-world problems with quantum computers? Do you want to deepen your understanding of quantum programming and learn more about opportunities in quantum science and technology? We’ve partnered with the New York University Tandon School of Engineering and City College of New York, with the support of Sandbox AQ, to host the first multi-university quantum hackathon in New York City!
Starting on September 8, you’ll learn the ins and outs of quantum programming with live lessons and a series of assignments from qWorld. 36 of the highest-performing Columbia undergraduates* will receive an invitation to compete against teams from NYU and City College in the hackathon itself, a week-long hybrid event that kicks off on September 21. During the hackathon, your team will work together to solve an industry-sponsored challenge using quantum programming. You’ll also get the chance to hear from quantum industry leaders and showcase your work to potentially win prizes!

*The hackathon competition itself is only open to undergraduates at the three competing universities, but we need mentors with programming experience and quantum knowledge on hand to assist the teams! You’ll get to participate in the qWorld training sessions to strengthen your own skills in quantum programming before helping your team tackle their hackathon challenge.
